Who we are
Isotoma is a network of Open Source and web professionals led by Doug Winter and Andy Theyers. We ensure that the right people are made available for each project, pulling in skills in each relevant discipline as required.
Doug Winter
Before Isotoma Doug spent 4 years as the CTO of ICP Europe. At ICP Doug had implemented a bespoke Java based publishing system, before moving the business to a Plone based system. While at ICP Doug was one of the founding members of Zope UK.
Prior to ICP Doug was Technical Manager for BBC Online Operations, responsible for the operational service delivery of the BBC website. At the time the BBC website was the largest and most popular website in Europe which gave rise to some unique scaling problems.
He was intimately involved in launching the interactive television services when the team was given responsibility for all interactive operations, working with BBC R&D to make their software ready for production use.
He played a lead role in successfully securing ISO9000 accreditation for his team by deploying ITIL techniques within all of online operations.
Between 1996 and 1998 Doug was Technical Manager for ioko (as was Infocom at the time). Both he and Andy were among the earliest employees of this highly successful start up. Whilst at ioko Doug architected and built the UK's first online supermarket for J Sainsbury.
Doug is a member of the BCS.
Andy Theyers
Andy joined Isotoma having spent 10 years with ioko (where, back in 1996, he originally met Doug whilst also working on the Sainsbury project).
Andy has 12 year's experience of software development and service management, having most recently worked with EMI Music in implementing Content, Document and Knowledge Management systems as well as assisting in the introduction of ITIL best practices throughout the EMI estate.
Previous projects have been as diverse as the NHS, Shell, Alliance & Leicester and BSkyB where he has been involved in the delivery of innovative solutions to a range of business problems, primarily in the Content Management and Portal arenas.
Andy has spent the last 5 years championing Open Source solutions within a corporate environment, most notably assisting one customer in moving 280 web sites (delivering some 500 million hits per month) from Solaris and Oracle to Linux, Apache, MySQL and PHP (or LAMP, as it is commonly known).
Andy is a member of the BCS and the itSMF and is qualified to the highest level in ITIL Service Management.
